Whilst heading down the M74 on Friday afternoon there was a small stone that hit the windscreen on the SC, it barely made a noise but has left a chip with 3 little cracks coming out of it.

Insurance have agreed to have the screen replaced after Auto Glass advised that it can't be repaired.

They've ordered a Pilkington screen and are hoping to have it this week and are going to fit it on Tuesday next week when I'm off work.

Is there anything else that's worth buying from Dan and fitting at the same time? Are there any seals or parts that are easier to change whilst the screen is out? The scuttle beneath the windscreen has gone really grey and faded so I'm thinking about ordering one of them.

Any advice greatly appreciated

I wait your outcome with some interest, as mine has a large crack that's not really visible when driving, so I'm loath to have it replaced based in the various problems others have had with new windscreens  Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

I'm not particularly looking forward to it as it's not as if it can be unbolted and have a better one fitted very easily

I've been toying with the idea of having it done as the drivers side hasn't been heating since I've had the car but I've always put it off, this chip is in my line of sight so would fail the MOT when it's due so might as well bite the bullet.

As long as they check the plugs for the heated screen before they cut the old one out!

They're doing it in the garage at home so I can at least keep an eye on them.

I'm getting mine done at the moment by Autoglass... i asked for a genuine one and they are in the process of finding out if the insurance company (Admiral) will pay, if not I have the option of paying the difference... don't know how much it would be yet but at least it's an option...

I think on one as late as yours I'd pay the extra... Pete

Thankfully it's the SC which is only a 2006, not the 2012, I still want it done properly though.

Will have a chat with the guys replacing it tomorrow and see what can be done.

Not an FF, but we have just had a screen fitted to our Freelander 2 HSE, we requested a genuine LR item, they collected it from the local dealer and fitted it! Regards

New windscreen fitted this morning by Euro Windscreens from East Kilbride.

They turned up with a Pilkington screen as requested. Job was done in around an hour. All the trim has gone back perfectly, they replaced the rubber seal along the top of the windscreen and the plastic clips that hold the black plastic trim to the A pillars.

Had me out to inspect the car and screen, then tested the wipers worked ok with a water spray. I went to work after they'd finished then at around 7pm tonight I took the tape off the screen that they'd left on it and took the car for a run. No wind noise audible at all which is good as there was a slight noise from something on the SC ever since I had it. He did say that one of the gutter trims wasn't quite clipped in properly so it could have been that.

Went to the car with a cup of boiling water tonight to steam the screen up to test the heated element, new screen is heating without fault as well which is great as the drivers side of the old screen never worked since I've had it, passengers side worked fine though which was irritating.

Turns out these guys have the contract for Parks Motor Group who have a Land Rover dealer and bodyshop so they've done plenty RR's in the past apparently.
