Anyone used the above service?
I've been advertising my cars on Autotrader for the last two weeks with a couple of sniffs but no sale yet. The advert finished and I had a call from a guy at the above company offering me £200 quid less than my advertised price "guaranteed" If it is all I say it is in the description.
I told him that its as per the description save for a few more miles on the clock and he has booked an appointment to come and view it and do the deal and transfer the money within 10 minutes.

Anyone used this as it seems too good to be true? I've been on the website and there are good and bad reports - some of them horrific and some perfect! What could possibly go wrong??

Yes, I've dealt with them before ad it was pretty smooth actually, but the value of the car was way below what the car was worth but the friend I was selling it for just wanted rid of it, so it was ok. But this crowd have offered, as I say 200 quid less so I have got to see what happens.

Sounds like a a ploy to get his foot in the door to me and likely the offer will be 'adjusted' BUT nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I tried their online quote service and it came back between six and nine thousand under what the vehicles are actually selling for right now private and trade, bargain price and top 'dollar'. That's a no from me.

As someone with an intimate knowledge of online car purchase models, I cannot see how webuycarstoday could buy your vehicle for £200 less than what you're asking and make and money out of the transaction.

Just beware, extract from the T&C's on their website (section 9A)

This fee contributes towards the expenses we incur such as police reports, insurance reports, finance checks, HPI and CAP data. On average it costs us £150 per appointment including collection so we find charging a fee provides us with some commitment from our customers on the day. Customers failing to pay the application fee prior to the appointment will have their appointment cancelled and will require another booking.

For what its worth, you will always get less from an online purchaser than from selling privately. Trade in's are less clear cut and depend on the vehicle being purchased, the vehicle being traded and the financing method, but its certainly possible to get a better deal overall by separating the transactions. 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

The only time that anyone should use these buying companys is if there in dire straights and need to get some money quick, the amount they pay is well below auction values.

I'm not in dire straights at all, but I have found a 405 and the offer the dealer has given me in PX is way too low so he has given me the opportunity to sell privately and this came up from my advert. It seemed a good way to save nearly two grand.
