Well she has now gone to have her transmission sorted.....

She's back
£1320 to have the transmission reconditioned and the torque convertor replaced at Birch Motors. 12 months warranty and a free six month/6000 mile check up as part of the service.
Liverpool to home in just over two hours and no transmission issues.
Suddenly I love my car again

Thanks for all the positive comments. 350 miles since I picked her up and all is well. I even gave her the full beans yesterday (I've been driving Miss Daisy for a week as I didn't want to break her but a BMW 318 was annoying me....)
Gear changes are almost imperceptible 😀
