It's Friday, thought others might find humour in our predicament...

I know a RR is a fairly large car, but when we park we always try to do it with consideration to others. We’re now embroiled in a parking dispute where we’ve been accused of parking insensitively and causing an inconvenience by obstructing clear access to and from another space. See if you can work out which space has complained from the photo below (we’re obviously the black FFRR)…



…well done if you worked out it was the one next to (right hand side of) the silver 911 .
Am I missing something? Admittedly we’re not budged right up to the retaining wall in front of our car, but that’s because we don’t want to cause an obstruction to those residents who require access to and from the lift. This resident has now also complained to the managing agents. If my life isn't complicated enough!

I've tactfully (well as best I can ) suggested that if it's really that awkward, that they might consider reversing into their space, thus allowing them to drive (and steer) straight out of the space. Apparently this is not an option...why should they have to change their habits to suit others.

Rant over, feeling a bit better now…roll on the bank holiday weekend.

If you edged forward about 8 inches you would remove all their ammunition in one go. They would have to find something else to moan about then. (Or is it a battle of wills? - certainty wouldn't move especially if they complained to a third party and not to my face)

To be honest you're neighbour should be happy that you're a level headed easy going kind of guy !?

Personally I'd change my car to something a little more reasonable !!

If they consider you an obstruction then they need to learn how to drive!

Actually you should swap spaces, theirs looks better as you have some verge on the right to step onto and the 911 driver is unlikely to ding your doors....problem solved.

Our neighbour complains everytime the Ocado delivery van parks 1/2 over her double width driveway for 5 minutes to deliver to our house. She come out ranting and raving. The first time I asked her if she was going out, she said no!! WTF.
She has complained to ocado, so they are no longer allowed to park there!! My Motto: If you are going to have one, have a BIG one!

Private car parks are a nightmare but thankfully you don't have to adhere to any road legislation. As I have private parking and tell people off for trying to park in my spaces I would simply smile and ignore as there is nothing that they can do.

It dosent look that tight to be honest. As has been said, if they took the time to reverse in maybe they wouldn't have such a problem getting out.

Reeks of someone with too much time on their hands.

I can't see any sensible management company siding with them, especially as your playing the access to the lift card.

Thanks guys, glad it's not just me. That said I must admit to being more than a little tempted with borrowing my mates 101 for a car swap. See how they get on with that being parked there for a couple of days  Life is what happens while you�re making other plans.

went to an eatery in Farnham, parked in Castle Street which is mostly end towards pavement spaces. Found a bay between 2 empty bays and parked between the lines. On return was flanked by a car either side so close I could not open the doors more than 2 inches. Ended up opening the boot removing the parcel shelf, dropping RHR seat and climbing through, much to wife's amusement.

I am happy yo admit that I am very careful about where and how we park 'the beast' to avoid as many issues as possible! Try for end bays or would jump at that space beside the 911!

The 911 is parked so well to avoid dings and give themselves as much space to open the door as possible (I need space to get in ours bring a middle aged fat bastid) - the logical thing IMO is to actually reverse in beside the 911 as tight to (or even on???) the low kerb and that way, you maximise the space with both drivers doors opening into the same space! Simples



Ps - I know there is a risk of damage riding that low kerb..... Just be careful or right up to it as per the 911 who has parked very well....

And do they drive a smart car?

Unreal, plenty of room, do they consider the van/people carrier an issue too?
