Battery

Hi,

Left it for 2 weeks and its dead as a Monty Python parrott. Opened it on key but key cannot turn in ignition, so guess its battery time. Its a 2006 - 3.6 - Vogue SE

Looking at two:

Yuasa HSB019 100ah 900cca 353x175x190 Halfords £119 5yr

Bosch 019 100ah 830cca 353 175 190 ebay £105 6yr

Has anyone experience of these, leaning towards Yuasa, easy to take back if a problem, as heard that Bosch may need a chunk from edge removed to get it in, which probably kills warranty

Did see more powerful one claimed suitable for RR but at 393 length don't think its a goer!

Many thanks If its not broke now it soon will !!!

I bought the varta silver for £95 off fleabay. Had to jiggle it in. No cutting required. Been dandy since fitting 7 months ago. Cca is rated higher as well which I believe is really important especially in winter months.

Just checked my account but it's that old I can't check the exact measurements. Just found the invoice. Which shows ;

610 200 varta silver dynamic car battery 12v 110ah 020 short code I1 varta din 610 402 092.

I think I went on recommendation from fellow members.

I got a Bosch Silver from ECP with a 25% discount code, under £100 and it's an 020 not an 019. A bit of a squeeze but more capacity.

Just bought this Varta last week and had next day free delivery (in a useful box too). My previous was a LR OEM which has lasted with no probs (until now) for over 7 years!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281800627350?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT

Had no probs fitting it myself in 15 mins and car definitely runs a lot better. Good price too.

Read a lot about Bosch probs on here and decided against having one. The Yausa also get good reviews.

Thumbs Up

My 2004 4.4 V8 petrol.

The New battery was exactly the same size as the original. Just put the bonnet on extended opening (how to is on FFRR) and lift out and replace. I am 6' 1" and managed to do it alone but there is an easy guide how to (poss by Pete Haylands) if you need help.

The important bit is lowering the new one in vertically and horizontally as it may jam if at a cant. A little jiggling is required but it may be easier to stand on a box or steps to get right over the battery area. Thumbs Up

Bosch and Varta are made in the same factory (Bosch/Varta joint venture) so just get which offers the longest warranty for the cheapest price.
Currently 25% off everything from ECP with code HOLIDAY25 (plus free 5 litres of screenwash with over £40 spend).
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-batt...p;cc5_1026
Makes it £117 which might be more expensive than elsewhere but with the bonus of being able to take it back to a local branch if it fails within warranty.

I bought mine a few years ago and I've never had an issue, it sits for 3 or 4 weeks before I get HDC inactive on start up, it still starts no problem but means it needs charging up.

You may be ok fitting a new battery but will probably find that it is a DRAIN and not the battery that is at fault.Range rovers have the worlds best reputation for flattening batteries no matter how new there are.If you search the forums there are various things you can do to maintain it just don't expect the £100 new battery to start after 2 weeks though !

My Bosch failed after around 3 years - ECP replaced it without a question - I was in equal parts, surprised & impressed Thumbs Up
