Tyre tread depth???

Had the car MOT done today, at the bottom of the invoice, the following is printed



It seems a bit contradictory to me.

Legal limit is 1.6mm - but they are recommending 3mm Thumbs Up

I swap mine out at about 3 - but I'm fussy about tyres - all 4 need to be the same - and I run winter tyres too....

What's confusing me Alistair, is they are saying the offside and nearside rear tyre depth is 4.0mm which they say means the tyres have only 2.4mm left. Does that mean I am below the recommended tread depth of 3mm?

Stop the thread I think I understand it now. Idea When it says I have 2.5mm left, it means I have 2.5mm left before I reach the legal limit to change tyres. Embarassed

just add the legal limit of 1.6 to the mm 'left' figure and you get the 'actual' depth.. ... - .- -.
