The lower mileage one, is somewhere near to half as much to run, fuel wise. On LPG, against an SC
Have you looked into nearby LPG availability?
On the older model, it runs fine, if fitted well.
I have it, and 100k on LPG etc.
You can also update the look of the older model, to 'facelift' 2006, or even, (more expensive) 2010 look.
-should you prefer the 'look'

And, you can haggle the price, if you can't find another similarly priced comparison.

Personally out of the 2 you have put up then it really depends on condition rather than the milage. The SC should take the miles quite well as will the 4.4 but they don't like sitting and as the older one only has 45k on it it suggests that it has sat around rather a lot......

get in them go under and round them meticulously using the buying guide in the wiki, see what needs doing, i would hazard a guess that you may find that the 2006 is in better nick and if the SC LPG kit is fitted properly and the spec required as i think it needs flashlube on it then there, then that is the one I would go for. Have a look closely at the registration dates too and see if the latter car is in the early or later tax bracket too, which will save a few pennies. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Would buy oin condition over age and mileage. Having a SC myself, would recommend one. Mine has done 92k and in daily use so wouldn;t be put off by one with higher mileage.

Buying on condition is VERY good advice.

The 2004 will be the BMW engine with a 5sp auto.
The 2006 SC will be the Jaguar engine with a 6sp auto.

You should check some of the treads to determine which best meet your needs.

In GENERAL (and hopefully without offending anyone), the Jag engine seemed to be preferred on petrol, but the BMW takes to LPG better. It's also been pointed out that the 2004 MAY have had better seats and better rust-proofing.

The 2006 will have a better radio/entertainment unit, but the unit in the 04 radio can easily be binned and replaced with up to date BMW parts. The 2006 is a lot harder to update.

Personally I wouldn't buy either, the 2004 is a bit old for the low miles and I won't buy anything that's been converted to LPG.

But if those were my only options I would plump for the older one. Definitely check its MOT history for genuine mileage.

I dislike LPG because a lot of folks fit it to save money and then save on servicing as well. Then sell when it's all gone wrong.

-unlike all the non-LPG cars, that are always fully fettled and serviced, just before selling.

i'm no tighwad, (i like to think)
-however, i'm wiser, than the typical motorist on servicing. (not warrantied)
you have to judge LPG, on fact, and not opinion.
just read the service history. if missing, ask if where it might have been serviced, it might be available, re-printed.
however, it is FACT that SOME dealars, wont accept LPG cars to their warranty.
that is company policy, and to do with third party mechanics etc.

i disgree with comments, like if its low milage, then its 'sat around a lot', and gone a bit 'lame'
some people just dont drive, long distances, and have other cars. - and garages, and live abroad etc.

i like to discuss the arguement, that a 3 year old car, is sort of worth quite a bit, with 100,000 miles on it, yet 'same' car, with 50,000 on it is worth much less, if its say 6 years old.
but, the savings are huge. and act as a buffer, to say, increased 'running costs'
-if investigated.

Seems slightly odd that a car that's done 45k in 12 years has LPG fitted at all - hardly seems worth the return on investment.....

Condition & 'feel' are important - my big thing is matching tyres - usually tells me what I want to know about maintenance - odd tyres and I'll walk away. Yes - I know some people maintain them well etc, but if you skimp on tyres..... I'm not mechanical enough, so use that as my barometer.

If it's a private sale, then you'll get an impression of the seller.

I'd also be reluctant on a used LPG - it would need to be well documented and something I could verify was a good one. The S/C particularly seems to have had head issues with anything other than a top notch conversion whereas the BMW engine seems more tolerant.
