An SJ Ponce with flying feathers Can't have an ID without feathers - It's like Lagavulin wi'out 3 drops of water (ducking for cover now ) Back in a Defender!!

Lagavulin, especially the 25 year old one I have cannot be polluted with anything. It's the law.

Many years ago we were on a distillery tour (Dalwhinnie if my memory serves me) and the tour guide was telling us about the "3 drops" malarkey. We all booo-hissed but the advice was that it helped to "explore the flavoured" without affecting them

Anyway, went back to the caravan with a freshly bought single malt to test the theory and do you know what?? Didn't make a sh...t of difference Perhaps it's down to the side of dram I pour

Must have nearly 40 different single malts now which are all "enjoyed" but none are taken with "3 drops"  Back in a Defender!!

^ I've been to many a Whisky Society tasting event and suffered the pompous talk about a splash or three drops to kill the burn of the alcohol and bring out the inherent flavours....call me a philistine makes very fine whisky taste like watered down whisky me.

I did laugh at how red with anger one host went when I relayed how I had one of the last bottles form the original Rosebank Distillery (Camelon, Falkirk) and had opened it to try it. That's tantamount to sacrilege, apparently.
