Tools

I'm looking for some advice. I'm 3 weeks into ownership of my fullfat Very Happy I am off to the big auto jumble just outside York tomorrow.

Has anyone got recommendations for commonly used tools I might purchase? Anything you find you couldn't do without? I am looking to change the brake pads and discs at some point plus do basic stuff.

I have a basic socket set, spanners, screw drivers etc. I have a pair of 3000kg axel stands. My hydraulic jack started leaking so I dumped it.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Andy

A decent set of Torx drive sockets and screwdrivers, T20 is the most common size, so defo get a T20 screwdriver and then a set of 3/8 drive Torx sockets (male, not female)

A decent "G" clamp or similar to push the pistons back in the caliper would be handy...

Best tool is an IID tool but don't think you will get one there....

Have fun and don't spend too much... Thumbs Up Pete

Great replies here, thanks very much.

Yes a BT IID tool is on my shopping list.

I need a jack, I think I would get one new as I wouldn't trust a 2nd hand one.

I will get some torx tools tomorrow

Is that a Small pry bar? What about plastic trim removal tools?

Any recommendations for penetrating oil?

I have a big selection of hammers, I used to own a classic series 2 Very Happy

I bought one of these jacks and it's great for the money! Lifts the full fat high enough to get the wheels off as the suspension goes full travel, with no problems at all. Would recommend if you don't want to spend silly money.

Thin drift.

You need a long thin but strong implement to knock the pins out of the brembos to get the pads out. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I won't try pick pocketing at the auto jumble, most of the guys who go are biker types who turn up on choppers

it's like something out of mad Very Happy Max
