Installation here must be done by a qualified gas fitter and the install is tested every year at the annual roadworthy inspection. The car is then fitted with a certification plate.

LPG tanks have to be examined and re-certified every 10 years (we don't have salted roads in winter so corrosion is less of a problem). Ron B. VK2OTC

We all think we have done a proper job, but when I first filled up, -just hooking the gun to the filler tube, and hearing a huge hiss, meant I knew I had a bad seating coupling going bad. You just don't want to be leaking, at the pump area! Coz you don't want to start it up! This was in an old p38, had to move it outside, with tailgate down. It did stop within about 15 seconds though. And it was only the filler hose volume.

LPG vehicles used to be London congestion charge exempt, but they stopped it in 2012.

But expect it to be re-instated in the near future, plus as and when other cities start to introduce pollution/congestion charges LPG certified/registered vehicles will all be exempt, but the vehicles will have to be registered on your logbook as dual fuel vehicles. .

Congestion charge is not really an issue, I always use public transport to go into town or my works van that has the CC covered.

As for the DVLA, well let us just say i like to use the channel tunnel twice a year for booze cruises and would like to continue to do so. The filler will be hidden so no real obvious clues to how the vehicle is powered.. It's £5 a year cheaper for RFL, a certification, if he could get one, would cost more than 10 years worth of discount...!!!

Congestion charge was only ever for a certain number of approved vehicles and a Range Rover wasn't one of them and likely won't be in future....

Any leaking gas will have diluted enough to not be flammable after just a few seconds, no issues with starting a car with a leak at the back.... just remember it's heavier than air so open a rear door and the boot if you get a leak, most of the latest fittings are very well made and if assembled correctly don't tend to leak....  Pete

I have many LPG installs on various vehicles, I have a 1976 relaint robin trike, when I insured it i told them it would soon be running LPG they took my money, so a few weeks after rang to confirm the LPG and low and behold they wanted a certificate, after many discussions with them they agreed if I was to have a fresh MOT done on the trike they would accept the LPG being of a good standard

As with most MOT's I goto with LPG vehicles the tester asks me more questions about LPG than acctually testing it, I am yet to see the LPG spray come out and be used
