I wondering whether any of you kind folk can help?
I'm trying to replace the Body Control Unit under the passenger seat and I just cannot seem to unclip the big black connector. I have unclipped the 2 smaller ones OK but this is a completely different clipping mechanism.
There seems to be a sliding part which slides along 2 lugs

I wish I could remember more other than it was a faff , get a good look at the release trigger on the left there I think it needs to come out more .I think I used needle nosed pliers to squeeze the lock together or something like that . Sorry not very good am I  2008 MY Supercharged

Hi mate

You basically pull really hard on the grip section and the locking section rises up and away from the connector section. They can be really stiff. I sometimes put a flat head screw driver in the side section once I have got it moving for some leverage.

I thought I was pulling hard! But now I know where to pull hard, so I'll give it another go.
However, I ran out of time so I had to put it all back (the old unit) . I won't be able to attack it again for a few days, but I'll post the results in due course.

Can you just confirm I have understood correctly, please? (as per image)



The four round lugs (two visible here, 2 on the underside) are part of the BCM unit. Presumably as you pull up they slide further along the 'runner' groove?

Once you get it moving put a screwdriver (where you have drawn the top red line) down in the gap that opens up between the BCM and the connector locking section and leaver against it.

Sorry Steve, I’ve only just finished work... Matt has answered exactly what i would have advised above^

Be aware though, it may be extra tight due to the pins from the plug being rotted into the electrical connector! This i have seen before... When you put a screwdriver down the end and leaver there is a chance it can pull/rip out some of the pins!!!

There's no evidence of anything but bone-dry conditions, so I will have my fingers firmly crossed for when I make the next attempt.

If it goes badly, when are you next coming down to this neck o' the French woods? You can fix this and do my sunroof at the same time while I look after Lorna ... I've not had the right conditions to do the sunroof myself yet. (That's my excuse anyway) You said the sunroof thing is another 'yanking' job - what is it will FullFats?

Ive been home at least four weeks Steve so will have the urge to travel again real soon
