Well after 2 1/2 years of ownership I said goodbye to my FF yesterday, transfer motor has been playing up a bit for a few months, but unplug and plug it back in and all was ok for a while, so with that in mind and needing a couple of tyres and bit of rust on rear wheel arch I decided to cut my losses. Sad to see it go but maybe have a newer one in a couple of years.

Yes I got to that point with my '04. Looking at the electrical connections I could see that just old age/natural humidity was causing slight surface corrosion everywhere in the electrical system and even though there was no water ingress I suspected that in another year or so significant surgery was going to be needed on some of the looms/connectors.

My biggest worry was with the connectors I couldn't get at easily - like the transfer box.

So had a good look around at other vehicles and nothing compared to a FFRR - in fact I didn't even want to test drive anything else - so had to get a newer RR.

So the big question Jimmy C is - What have you replaced it with?

Yeah I've thrown a lot of money at it this year and at some point you have to weigh up the value of the car against what your spending. I let it go to a dealer as i think they are quite a hard sell privately with the faults it had, now driving an astra for a while, definitely not an FF but what compares?? Im sure ill be back in a couple of years when i can have a bigger budget and get something abit newer.
Ive found that buying in at entry level FF ie-an early L322 comes with the same repair costs as a newer one but much more frequent, something I knew but at some point you have to cut your losses.
