2003 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 V8 Java Black
2011 L322 TD V8 Reverse light bulb upgrade

Keen to find a current definitive answer to the best upgrade bulb please. No mods, no soldering, nothing that's going to melt the plastic.....no errors.
I believe that I'm looking for an H6, but just want to plug and go something decent.
Cheers !!

Whistle You'll be lucky with that one Bud... there is only the 6w and a 21w bulb as far as I know... the 6w is the feeble bulb that LR's fitted and the 21w causes meltdown..... I not sure if you can get LED bulbs that will plug straight in, as the base of the bulb isn't standard, it has offset pins, just to be awkward Evil or Very Mad

That is was so many of u8s have gone the LED panel route, which gives the best results Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

as Paul says, everything has been suggested from splitting the lights and inserting cob/led panels to wiring auxiliary reverse lights under the bumper...

to get any decent light output you will have to be prepared to do some fettling... ... - .- -.

Bow down It's not often that you can claim to be the sharpest tool in the box Thumbs Up

I have just come across these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Land-Rover-Ra...SwuAVWyChr It doesn't say what wattage they are... so it's up to you if you chance them... But I personally can't see them being any brighter that std.

But what ever you get it needs to a H6W or BAX9S base, otherwise it wont fit, and nothing that's much wider than the base... cos it's a tight fit Shocked Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Thank you very much for the replies!

I had hoped that we'd moved on from cutting and reshaping the fittings etc.
Cheers though!!

put in my car and it says that they fit.

I called them and they said, no, they will not fit.

Can someone maybe tell me the simplest "DIY" job that I would need to do. I'm good with electrics if its a bit of soldering etc....for my 2011 RR.

Cheers again

sorry I meant that I entered the model of my car into the ebay tool and was told that they were suitable, but upon calling them I heard that they did NOT fit my car.

I suspect that they don't fit because its a tight squeeze to get the bulb in the lens, the hole isn't too big.... that is not to say that the hole can't be made bigger Whistle

These look like they will give more output than that first lot http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X-10-SMD-LED-43...Sw9NdXvmKu But it more than likely need the hole opening up in the lens so that the bulb can pass through. Oh and they don't have to be canbus... the reverse lamps are not in the LCM, so no messages Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

you could take off the OE reverse light and replace the whole thing with something like this ,

theres loads of these types of lights on ebay and if you find the right one and with a bit of fettling you could end up with a much brighter and smaller light unit..

a project for you maybe Paul.. Wink ... - .- -.

Does anybody think these are worth trying??

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Land-Rover-Ra...1494292015

they don't look longer than 30mm max length to not touch the inner of the light case unit, and have a 10mm contact base and offset.

Cheers
ps apologies if suggested already, but I believe not.

I wouldn't bother, 1, I have my doubts as to whether they will go through the lens hole... and 2, they are what looks to be "normal" clear led's, I would be surprised if they are brighter than the original Rolling Eyes

The led's that have a yellow colour are COB type.. they have a much higher output, and don't worry they are white when powered up Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Can only be used off-road.

Reverse lights are limited to two with a maximum of 21W each for road use
