Hi Folks,
Just moved over here from Disco 3 and got my 2016 MY VSE yesterday.

I note Bra10j mentions "charging his batteries". My handbook states "do not charge the batteries under pain of death" and " take it too a stealer"
The only way I can see of using my CTEK 10 is via the jump start connections under the bonnet. Certainly can't directly connect to the crank battery that's trussed up like a chicken under the spare wheel

So is it OK to charge through the jump connectors or should I use the tow bar socket? I have had a good search and can't find anything mention for L405 home battery charging.

Even though there is a post, you're not supposed to jump start them either......

Whilst I wouldn't offer advice to others on this, I will say that I have an Anderson connector for my jump leads & a set of CTEK connections on my L405 under the bonnet

Interestingly there is a specific plastic credit card with a diagram include in my hand book wallet, showing you exactly how to jump start it via the underbonnet connectors. So maybe something has changed in the battery ECUs in my model year to allow jump starting.

I presume you must have C-TEK'D yours via the under bonnet connections OK?

I've got the exact same CTEK extender socket as in your photo, but with the longer lead. Which on the Disco I ran down to a simple fabricated bracket located just inside the grill. So I could connect up at the front without even having to pop the bonnet. Worked great when the remote Park heat had eaten all the juice, usually after about ONE morning's effort So I was planning to wire this up again via the underbonnet connectors.

Yes I connected my CTEK lead to the charging post - I was thinking of having it in the cavity by the windscreen, just wasn't sure how water tight the cap is.

On the Disco, I tucked it just inside the grill facing forwards. Never had any problems with it. but you have to check the cover after using a pressure washer. It was occasionally flipped off then. But still never caused a problem. You could mount it in a transverse orientation or vertical down facing so even if the cap came off it wouldn't be directly exposed face on to water.What I wouldn't do obviously is mount it where it's facing vertically upwards.
I checked with CTEK before I did it and they won't guarantee it because they think some bumpy might then "submerge" it water. But he implied that there shouldn't be any problem with my application, which there never was.
