Can the diesel ungel? Might be worth filling the fuel filter with good fresh diesel.

I think it can one it warms up, you might also be able to add the additive manually. Ed

Top job on getting it this far, have done a few Navara engines in the last few years myself and there's nothing like having a go at a job like this yourself....

I don't think it's been cold enough over here for the last while to make the fuel gel but personally I'd whip the filter off and have a look at it.

I know some are not a big fan of this stuff but a squirt of easy start into the manifold while cranking might be enough to get it firing and draw more fuel.

If you have a compression tester it would at least put your mind at ease on that front.

I had a similar issue after fitting a new turbo on a Kia Sorento a while ago, running fine and then all of a sudden nothing, turned out to be the pedal position sensor, just damp from sitting up.

Also check for sensor faults.

Crank position sensor can result in non starting. Had the same on my van. Thing of it this way, engine wise there is only fuel and compression, if you have both of them then it is likely to be sensor related. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Hey Guys so I got her on diagnostics tonight. The following error codes where logged.

Vehicle Speed Sensor A
Lost Communication with Instrument control module
Vehicle Communication bus A Performance
Microwave phase lock loop.

After I performed a number of test it still wouldn't work. I clear the faults and the following came back.

Lack of communication with instrument control module.

Also the body processor module is not communicating. Where is this located. As someone mentioned earlier it could be a connection. Can anyone make any sense of the errors?

I would start with the engine bay connectors round the large electronics box. Check these first as I presume the bits and bobs in the car haven't been disturbed and you have had the engine out and possibly pulled a cable in the engine compartment.

I would suspect that all the modules are fine and It's probably one loose connection which has caused a cascade of faults. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Hey, No luck!

The Mechanic came back today and had a look at her. He changed the fuel filter and checked a few wires. Couldn't see anything amiss! Anyways she is still not starting and I think they are kinda washing there hands of it!

I'm a bit disappointed. I've a strong feeling that there is nothing wrong with the engine! Apart from anything else It would still start with one cylinder down as it prior to being repaired. It's turning over nicely & the big plus is the computer is only pointing to an electrical fault.

I'll check the wires on Monday, as that's the next day I'm free - but apart from that would quick checks could I make! It has to be something simple! I want this car working for Christmas!

I've read in a few places about people getting misfires and replacing fuel filters and vehicle speed sensors, I'm not sure what the connection would be, unless the VSS is faulty and sending a spurious reading and the ECM won't allow the engine to fire if it thinks it's going over a certain speed or something like that.

I only say this as I see it threw up a fault of Vehicle Speed Sensor A, just incase they are somehow connected.

I'd give it a blast of easystart to see if it attempted to fire.

I still haven't got a chance to look at her yet. I'm hoping to have a good at it today. The more I discuss the issue with people the more I realise that it must be an electrical issue (which the computer is point to!). I did try some easy start in her and no luck. It's as if the easy starts ignites, but then the computer still doesn't supply the fuel.


I'm going to check all the electrical cables today or tomorrow that I can see. It must be one of them or then possibly a sensor.

I learnt something yesterday (from watching Fast N Loud... )

If it doesn't even fire it might well be the MAF sensor, if it fires and then stops might be the manifold pressure sensor. Ed
