Im running standard 20" with stand tyres and i cant seam to read the pressure thind on the pillar correctly. The only pressures for my tyres shows 4 people and a bag in the car. I only have 2 people in it ! What should i be running at ?

I run 42 rear, 36 front on 20" Alloys ......

Do the Chalk test. Needs flat, clean tarmac.

Draw a chalk line across the width of the tyre. Drive for about 2 or 3 wheel rotations and look at line again. If worn more in the middle, pressures are too high, if worn more at the edges then they're too low.

on my 19's I run 32 front and 34 rear. When towing the van I need 39 rear and only 28 front.

A bit of a pain to actually do but considering the cost of tyres.........better they wear evenly across the tread than have to be replaced early.

The pressures on the car are only for guidance and have to be higher than needed for Land Rover to cover themselves from any litigation etc.

I have found that during winter 33-34 front and 35-36 back is great (2 adults and the odd small child) but would increase to 36 front -38 rear if I was going on a long motorway trip at high speeds.

PS: If you have XL tyres they can be run softer than normal tyre-walls.

The first ones on the label have the marking of less/more than 160km/h.

As I intend to go +160 sometimes, I always use the 4 people+bag mark.
Besides, it's also the one that's aligned with the 255/50r20 wheels.

Recommended pressures have varied by year of manufacture. One of the things that should be remembered is that the centre diff is designed to allow only a certain amount of slip. due to different rolling circumferences of front and rear tyres.

Deviating from standard is asking for trouble.

Your handbook will give you a list of pressures for your given wheel size that are suitable for your year. 

Just checked my tyre pressures, and they were 29psi in the front and 33psi in the rear. So I've pumped them up to 36 / 42 as per the label on the door shut.

I'm hoping the increased pressure is going to help my mpg.

I did notice they felt firmer when I went over a small pot hole on the drive home from the petrol station, am I about to rattle my fillings out?
