no probs Mark,

menu
live values
untested
in search box enter ''injector''
this comes up with ''injector balance values''
values should be 1000 with a variance of 100 up or down..

edit, this sequence doesnt work, well not on mine anyway ...Pat will advise on monday..

so its been established that the gap iidtool cannot read these values as LR havent made it possible to do so....

anyone have ideas on how i can get hard evidence to show if the injectors are faulty or not...

Whistle That's the sort of thing that a Bosch Service Centre will do for £60, and give you something to hit the stealer with Whistle

I'd get it to the Bosch centre for diagnosis, not repair, when I was having trouble with mine, the place that I was using said that they could diagnose most faults in an hour, and they charged £60 per hour.... It'll take the guess work out of the fault and give you something to secure the correct repair by LR Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Basically stan, it will show up any injectors that are over fueling.
You won't need to remove the injectors, just the leak off tubes on top.
I have seen plenty of examples on you tube, not rr specific, but the same for all diesel injectors.
good luck , hope you get sorted. Thumbs Up

Basically you remove the fuel return pipes (the daisy chained ones) and fit individual pipes, they are then collected in individual calibrated containers... the engine is then run and the fuel return from each injector can be measured... they should all be about the same if the engine is ok, and there shouldn't be much fuel leaked back to the tank. If any of the containers fill up with more fuel (10%+) than the others, it indicates that there is a blockage within the injector which requires attention. If they all leak back more than a few cc's of fuel then the they all need looking at Shocked The main advantage with doing a leak back test is it identifies individual injectors that require further attention without the need to remove them from the engine Thumbs Up

However if your engine has covered over 100K then it's worth having all the injectors properly cleaned and tested on a rig, because there is a danger that your reconditioned injector will preform better than uncleaned injectors, and introduce an imbalance again Rolling Eyes

The main reason for getting a Bosch specialist to do the test is a you'll need to invest in some single outlet fuel return unions, and the ones that are fitted to the engine as standard are top quality plastic that are prone to breaking... while they don't cost a lot.. how many do you buy? you could end up buying 8 x 90 degree unions, 7 x 180 degree unions to replace broken ones, you'll also need a lot of pipe and containers and some thing to hold them in.. by the time you've shelled all that out your close to the hours diagnostic fee... Plus if you go to the stealer and say I have found a blocked injector they might not take much notice.. but if you say that the Bosch specialist has found blocked injectors they will have to take notice Whistle otherwise you'll have some very good reasons to be talking to a lawyer Whistle Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer...
