I tried searching but after reading a few dozen threads I'm not getting the answer i needed.

Service light came on just before xmas and now I've recovered from xmas and new year I'm trying to sort it out.
So I've called the local LR dealer and enquired about a service, long story short id have to pay £488 for an oil change as my car has only done 35K miles and they are telling me i don't need other fluids/filters etc changed, no reduction in price either
So ive decided to source the oil and filter myself and get my trusty local mechanic to do it.

My question is...

How much oil do i need? LR are telling me 9.5L? that seems a lot? i can get the shell helix stuff they recommend.

I have to use LR parts for the warranty to still be valid etc and the price of an oil filter is £20 odd from the main dealer. Ive looked at the part numbers and i can get one for £6 odd online.

How will LR know that I've used original parts etc to service my car?

Do the filters have LR stamped on them etc or are they looking for serial numbers? Im happy to buy the full synth shell helix they recommend as its much cheaper than ordering it through LR themselves but how would they know i haven't used ASDA's finest?

I got the same figures and assumed thats where the parts guy at guy salmon quoted me from also. I wondered if anyone has first hand experience.

Id hate to buy 10 litres and then find i need 11 litres and have to re order more before i can drive it if you know what i mean. Equally as I'm getting rid of the vehicle soon i don't want to buy an extra 5 litres of oil and have no use for it.

Did i mention I'm a tight git...

9.5 litres is what you need
It says so in the manual
My last indie service...I was charged for 9.5 litres
Last main dealer service, I was charged for 10 litres

If doing vacuum extraction and filter replacement you will need 9 liters .I change oil every 5.5~6 T km. and every other time I drain secondary drain bolt, hidden bay the cross member of a sub frame and there came out about 1/2 liter of oil, so with that you will need 9.5 l of oil.It is important to chek level when oil is hot. When cold level should be in the middle. Here is picture of my homemade PVC drain pipe and old fridge compress, work like charm.

I hadn't thought about sucking the oil out. ill leave that up to the mechanic though. Im sure he will find a sump plug or he will have to take his fridge apart too!

you are not telling us (showing us in fact) that you "rise" the 3 tonnes of FFRR on wooden blocks?

Dear heppsen, if you take closer look you will see that there are 5 supports an the 4 metar long ramp, and I used 3 5x12cm beams. quite sturdy and static engineer approved. Are you a static engineer?

You want the one with the 934 - B spec for the 4.4 tdv8 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
