hi guys,

I keep getting a flat battery. I believe my battery isn't get charged up properly by the alternator as when idling it's inly 13v (measured using a multimeter).

What should it be outputting, and is this a job i can do at home or is it a garage job?

Yes, you can do it at home, with the right tools. Best to remove the radiator for access and removal of alternator. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

Don't go buying a new alternator either, it will only be the voltage regualtor thats failing and they cost around £20 delivered.

Simple to fit, if you can get the alternator off then you are more than capable of replacing the reg, infact if the rear of the alternator is accessible you may be able to do it in situe. Current
