My TDV8

A quick snap of my new toy

Since this was taken i've added power side steps and body coloured covers to the door handels as after 170,000 miles they were showing their age. Externally she is tip top, internally the seats although cared for could do with re-colouring but everything works as it should Smile
How many people on here do large mileages in their RRs? I average 30,000 miles a year.

Welcome and looking good there!

I don't do more than 10,000 miles per year but my old girl (2004 v8 petrol) has just turned 185,000. Running sweet again after a complete timing chains and guides replacement.

Honestly, for it's age and the mileage it has covered it's in superb condition. The only thing i can find to moan about is the infotanement system looks dated and to get USB playback i have added a 3rd party system that doesn't support ID3 tags.
You know you've got a good car when your only gripe is the stereo.

People don't seem to be as put off by high mileage in Ireland, or at least I don't think so, anything over 100,000 miles seems to be considered big in the UK.

My last 2 cars both had very high mileage without problems, Navara @ 335,000km and a BMW 520D with I think close to 400,000 km.

Nice looking FF..... Thumbs Up

It's probably because they still remember the "good old days" when BL, Ford, Vauxhall et al stuck mass produced petrol powered inefficient iron lumps in their cars which invariably needed a rebuild or new engine after 60,000 miles Whistle Whistle

It was also the hayday for the engine tuning and rebuilding industry.........wonder why..... Shocked Shocked

Nice FF btw Terry... Very Happy 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

TVM. As you may be able to tell, i'm rather pleased with it Smile
My local indi is going to have it next friday to change the gearbox and diff oils and have a check over the drivetrain to make sure all is well. I'd rather spend a bit now and nip any problems in the bud than leave it until something breaks.
The garage i bought it from say they serviced the gearbox when they did a full service prior to my collecting it but they used britpart filters on the engine and i have a horrible feeling they will have done that with the gearbox too so wanted it done again with a genuine filter.

Totally agree Rob, not saying more modern engines are indestructible or built to last for ever, but certainly with proper servicing and repairs they certainly have more legs to them.

I've always been of the opinion that high mileage is honest mileage, been a bit suspicious of well below average mileage cars, too much "clocking" going on out here, not as easy these days with better servicing records, more advanced recording devices etc., but I'm sure it's still going on.

Is the mileage recorded for each MOT?

Yes MOT stations must record the mileage and it is accessible to anyone on the UK government MOT website, including any advisories. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography
