Every car I've owned up to now has turned the interior lights on when a door is opened.

Yet I can walk up to my 2015 L405 Autobiography and open a door and be greeted with a black cave.
Same thing when going to get out of the vehicle after a drive. Open a door, no interior lights. You have to turn them on yourself. I don't even think it turns on the puddle lights in this case.

I've gone through the menus - stealth mode is not on. Can't see anything else relevant.

Is this a 'feature' I'll just have to live with?

on the L322 you can press the on/off switch for a few seconds [on the front center light cluster] and toggle between lights on or off when the door is opened.... ... - .- -.

Front courtesy lamp: Touch the centre of the sensor lens briefly to switch on/off.
To switch automatic illumination on or off, hold your finger on the lens until the lamp flashes.

Yes that really helps thanks. Certainly a case of RTFM for me.
Someone must have been set it that way at some point as I can't believe OFF would be default.

Why's that then? I'm not familiar with RRs before this one.

I'd not worry, i too have never owned anything from JLR so i'm fully expecting to be sat in it the day of collection & not having a clue how everything works. Total opposite of BMW or Audi where my lever of comfort with the gadgets is high & therefore becomes intuitive.
