Sliding luggage tray in boot

Just joined up here after collecting my 2006 Supercharged so am looking for a bit of help.
Have any of you got the sliding tray in the boot?
Cant afford the genuine article but am looking to make one myself and any tips or even close up pics of the real thing would be gladly received!
Must be a combination of short arms and long stomach that causes the problem for me!!
Dave

By sliding tray , i take it you mean the 3 section parcel shelf , been looking for one myself i broke the two plastic moulded pins on the end of it causing the 3rd section to swing about .

Took it out altogether and left it in the garage ,

No I mean the boot floor.
There is an optional extra which is a floor which can be slid in and out of the car to make loading and unloading easier. I've never seen one in a RR but I used to have one on an X5 and found it v useful

There is a picture of a similar tray in a RRSport part way down the page on http://www.rovercity.com/RRs/Acc/rrs3.html

Sliding Loadspace Floor

VT0500020PVJ

$898.00

At that price it is worth trying to make one up!!!

There is no genuine Range Rover accessory of this kind I'm afraid, you'll have to buy and X5 for that one, or make one of course, sounds like WAY too much bother to me! Discovery 4 HSE

Isn't Google wonderful! Smile Search for Van racking.

The alternative is buy some heavy duty drawer runners and some trailer board and make your own.
See this type of product. Note: The weight limit. The useful ones are bloody expensive and you have to mount them vertically (as you would with a drawer) to achieve that load limit, turn them 90 deg to get them closer to the floor and they will flex and jam with not a lot of weight on them.

Also in order to carry the weight, you would have to fix them to the floor. Drilling holes in newish cars is generally only for the brave. You could also go flash and have an electric actuator to slide it out for you!

I would say that the reason they are available for the RRS and not the FFRR is the spare wheel mounting arrangement. ie. RRS - slide doesn't affect it, FFRR - would have to be easily removeable to access wheel well.

When I asked about this a few weeks ago it seemed that no one made them or indeed needed them, so I made one !!!

I still have a few tidying up things to do and a carpet to fit etc but it is coming on and does exactly what I wanted plus my back will appreciate it!

Hope you like it.

Put me down as an interested buyer Thumbs Up

I asked about a sliding floor when I first bought my FF.......I had one in my Saab which I found invaluable.

I am always having to climb in to get things. It is surprising LR did not even think of offering something official. Tom

I guess this won't be very helpful if you need to carry really heavy things in the boot that require sliding in/out but I find the rigid load space insert (hard plastic boot liner thingy) very useful for this as it slides along the carper quite well. I pull it back, load up the paints or bags of gravel etc and then just push it back in the car.

Never have to get in the boot to empty it.! Ash
