Hi All,

I will be looking a getting my first ever FF over the next few months - my budget will be around £20k and am looking specifically for a 2007 onwards SC model.

I won't use the FF during the week as I walk to work so my mileage will be very low and it will stand at home Monday to Friday. My major question is this - am I going to encounter any problems leaving the FF standing around for 5 ish days a week not doing much?

I really don't want to come out every Saturday, morning turn the key and nothing happens?! I can just see SWMBO's disappointed face when I can't take her to John Lewis!!

Good question - you may well have a trouble free time of it and it depends on how much driving you do during the weekends. They are a bit hard on batteries the honest and many have issues coming into the winter months.

If I were you i'd invest in a good trickle charger and leave it plugged in during the week - I do this with my Mercedes that use very occasionally and it has never let me down (sometimes leaving the car 2 months in between starts)

That's been my pattern of ownership for several FFRRs over many years. The main thing is to keep the battery in good shape. I would top it up regularly with a CTek charger. If you are going to leave it for a few weeks then leave the charger attached.
When you do drive it give it a good run. When you run it, keep the A/C on to keep it dry inside even in winter. Keep to the time based service intervals and all will be well  2012 5.0L S/C

i had a 2008 SC and because of my back problems i sometimes didnt drive it for 5/6/7 days, it started first time every time...maybe cos its a petrol theres less strain on the battery.. ... - .- -.

I have a 07 SC and don't drive it 5 days a week, but i tend to drive it most weekends. It has just had a new battery and it has never filed to start. In fact not driving it every day makes it much more enjoyable when you do get in it. Go for it!  Jordan

My SC had been parked up for the last 2 weeks. Used it last Weds to take it for the gearbox oil change. Started first time. Before that it had been stood for well over a week and only started it for 30 seconds to move it to get the bins out !! Still started first time.
As with everyone, ensure you have a tip top battery, and try to make sure there is nothing left on to drain it.
Perhaps a lot of the starting issues come from the diesels as they need high cold cranking amps to start, and also the heaters. Tony

Kiss of death but here goes, my TD6 has had every problem over the years, however the last 3/4 months it has been like a normal car, starts first time after 2/3 weeks off. Coincidentally I havent been on the forum during this period....... make of that what you will
