What's the big metal cylinder under the N/S sill?

As above really, was having a ganders under the car and noticed on the N/S, running along the inner sill, there's this big long metal cylinder with a LandRover part number stuck to it.

Out of curiosity, what the hell is it? 2004 Vogue TD6 - Remapped

The air tank for the eas is under the o/s sill, between the centre pillar to the back door.
are you sure that it's under the n/s sill.?
