My partner has been using the FF lately and she said when pressing the start button nothing happens. She is new to driving and sits there thinking have I done something wrong. Then about eight to ten seconds later the truck fired up.

I've found that sometimes even with footbrake pressure , the car still says press the brake to start. One of those annoying "foibles" of JLR ownership. Also if you whack it straight into drive immediately after starting , it will often shut down again. |

I'd say a short delay is normal, the diesel glow plugs are warming up before the engine is turned over. But 8 to 10 secs sounds longer than I get, even on cold mornings, so maybe a diagnostic check helpful? Only Range Rovers since 1988 |

Diddley, did you resolve this problem as mine does this also. Or anyone have any idea why it happens. |

^ Fitting a battery isolator switch is easier than continually undoing a battery terminal. |

Mikey how do I tell if I have had the software update? Do you have to rely on the main dealers to get it done? 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE 1993 Discovery 1 3.5 V8i |

It maybe due to the system waiting for the glow plugs to warm the engine. What doesn't kill you is just bidding it's time. |
