Windscreen top seal removal

As the title, I have a leak from the top of the windscreen in my l322 I have managed to get the roof rail strips off to find lots of crud built up near the windscreen but the leak is under the main seal, does anyone know how to remove it? will it require replacement if i take it off?

thanks in advance!

RAVE isn't much help:

So i am guessing it is just stuck on with goo, but says to remove the side pillar covers (drill out rivets/fixings) too. Might be needed in order to release properly?

You might be better off with something like windscreen sealant and going around the upper finisher?

You could try taping it off first to see where the leak is coming from?

Have you checked sunroof drains - just in case? .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

interesting...if only it was that easy! Laughing there is plenty of room to get to the ends of the seal now the roof rail strips are out of the way so hopefully the side pillars don't need to come off! the previous owner did a terrible job of firing mastic all up the inside of the windscreen that just moved the leak from the corner to the rear view mirror! ive cut all that out as best as i can but it would appear the best way to cure the leak would be to stop it getting past the top of the screen...which would be easy if not for the finisher, sunroof drains are fine easy check as my headlining still isnt in yet!

problem is i dont want to brake the finisher or the screen trying to remove it Shocked
