Sat Nav "warming up"Message

Ok, I suppose I've done well, 17 days and 800 miles before any bugs strike...

For the past 2 days I've not been able to see the sat nav, when you push the various menu options to fire it up I am getting a message "Navigation not available system warming up"

So how much longer than 2 days (during which time the car according to the app has been driven for 2 hours) does it need to warm up?

Looks to me like it's got stuck and needs "alt control delete" type of reset . Any ideas from the collective as to how to do this?

Picture attached showing message.

I know it's a first world problem but it's bugging me!

Hmm, ok, 83 views but nobody seems to know what the problem might be. Rolling Eyes

So I've booked into the nearest LR dealer to where I am spending August, Parks in Ayr, to see if they can fix it.

TV is also not working, probably all the same problem that they'll fix in 5 minutes.

At least I get to do a 4 hour round trip through some of the most brilliant countryside Scotland has to offer Thumbs Up

Had a look in manual, nothing in there. Also spent some time googling it, trawled the RR Sport site and Disco sites in case there was some commonality but couldn't find anything...

Also checked out the Wiki section, which is awesome, but didn't hold the answer!

Ah, hadn't appreciated the system had changed for the 2017 MY, I knew the screen was different but had assumed that was just a bit of glitz and nothing behind it was any different.

Thumbs Up

On the bright side - once you've found the answer - and if you ask really nicely, then Stan might put it in the wiki Whistle

It needs software update. Had mine done and it improved it all. Dealers are aware.

An update...

Took a drive to Park Land Rover in Ayr. Lovely drive through some terrific countryside .

Very nice new showroom, shared with Jaguar. Very nice coffee and friendly staff.

Almost a complete waste of time though...they agreed the sat nav wasn't working, tried to do a software update but it fell over. Their comment - if software update doesn't work, it will require a new control unit. Frankly I could have told them that before I went!

TV does seem to be working again, seems I was just in an area with no reception.

So it looks like I'd be better off dealing with my local people when I get home, and leaving the car with them overnight.

The only reason I didn't think the trip a complete waste of time is I enjoyed the drive there and back, and had a nice KFC for lunch. Oh, and the car was sort of washed - cleaner than before but I wouldn't have wanted to pay for it!

A further update....

Having returned back home, car was booked in to local (supplying) dealer.

They attempted the software update, but to no avail.

So a new infotainment unit has been agreed with Land Rover under warranty. Apparently they are made with some specifics to each vehicle (?) and will take around 10 days to arrive - but may be quicker.

I was concerned about them taking the dash apart but have been reassured that it's quite a straightforward job, and in fact they've done "a number of these" - but not always for sat nav failure. So all should be well. No charge to me but the unit would cost around £4,500 so I'm glad I've not got that bill to pick up.

Was lent a 3.6 RRS HSE for the day. Under normal circumstances I think it would be quite a decent car, but it just didn't compare with the FF 4.4 AB. Apart from the working sat nav that is!

I fear I've spoiled myself car wise for life Big Cry

Hopefully final update.....

New unit arrived at dealers and car booked in yesterday for fitment.

Slight problem in so far as for some reason the car wouldn't communicate with the new unit, so FF stayed at dealers for a further day.

Got it back tonight, all seems to be working - although all settings such as radio station favourites, Bluetooth to phone, saved destinations etc all disappeared so start again tomorrow with the customising.

The appearance of some screens - settings for example- is very different so latest software presumably behind those changes.

Hopefully that's it now Thumbs Up

Was delighted to get back in the FF, I'm so besotted with what a lovely environment it is to be in. But you all know that, that's why you've got one Rolling with laughter
