Tailgate lock broken

My upper tailgate won't lock anymore. I've removed the lock and it looks like the and it's retaining log are broken.

Is this a common problem? -has anyone else had this problem?

Never heard of it happening before, I do have a fully working second hand one for sale if you are interested!

2006 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Buckingham Blue

My top boot lock locked open - my solution was to drill out the rivets; click the spring pushing the locking latch back into position; grease all moving parts and bolt the lock back together.
