I have been thinking that some form of fault history/ log would be useful to owners and others looking to buy....

Some clever Excel type person could probably produce a spreadsheet based on my draft.

Members willing to contribute could then add their username and faults.
We would soon have a pretty good 4.4 td V8 fault history.

and theres me hoping for a quiet week

How about if Adrian (ajac8) produces and emails to me a blank spreadsheet; I am happy to enter any reported 4.4tdv8 fault details from posts I read , say once a month, and add the updated spreadsheet to this post ?
I just need a blank pro-forma that is suitable.

You need one Excel spreadsheet in Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive or similar that only the participants can edit but everyone can view.  2006 4.2 SC

I have been doing it bit more work on this whilst the weather has been so bad this week.
If any 2010/12 4.4tdV8 owners are willing to help me by supplying the data I would really appreciate it
The easiest way to do this would be to simply send me a PM with the following info.

Username or anon.


1) Model... e.g. Westie, 4.4 tdV8 Vogue, VSE, Autobiography
2) Fault report....e.g., Restricted Performance. iid fault code etc.
3) Fault cleared by.... eg replacing CHange over valve (CSOV)etc
4) Mileage at time of failure....
5) Any other helpful info.

I will eventually add a photo of the completed spreadsheet to this post for all to see, then update it as and when needed.

So far

Replaced squeaky belt at 47000
While they were:
Replacing leaking bottom oil drain push on fitting (was leaking when I had it at 34k)
Leaky turbo drain pipe at 47000 (tightened probably.....)
Put some new drop links on t at about 50000
Replaced front strut 44000 approx, only major component failure.

Rear shocks are leaking but they all do that sir.....
I could do with having the turbo drain mod done but can't be bothered at the moment
My changeover valve is the new one anyway

Apart from that it's been as good as gold. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Split rubber manifold hoses are winning.
I have only had 1 Fault (stuck CSOV) in over 2 years. They changed the hoses at the same time.

Things of note that I can currently recall are:
Drop link replaced at about 65k
Another drop link at 85k
There have been some other odds and ends but nothing of particular note that springs to mind.

I do however have a routine service coming up and have recently been experiencing the "Restricted Performance" warning but without any restricted performance which is odd. I have also over the last 2 or 3 years noticed the engine coolant level very slowly dropping over a number of months, but have never mentioned this to the garage and just topped it up myself. So I'll mention both of these and see where that leads things. If any remedial action comes of it I'll endeavour to update you on the outcome. Current: Volvo XC40 T4 R-Design. Loitering with intent to possibly buy back in.
