I'm after a pair of early (2002/2005) L322 side light + indicator units.

they arent that much expensive to buy replacement and they come with bulb holders and bulbs

I've got one with the glass broken, apart from that A1, push bike's handlebar went through it, Driver's side

Hi, thanks for the reply... this may well be a good option actually. I could try out what I'm thinking on yours and if it doesn't work out I've not ruined a good lamp.
