Hi all

Does anyone on here have a set of the engine locking tools, a pulley holding tool and a fan removal spanner that they would be willing to lend out for the BMW M62 4.4 V8 engine. Im planning on doing the timing chain, guides, gaskets and vanos units in a few weeks.

tie wraps can be used to hold the timing in place on some chain engines , just saying

Not with the vanos set up, it is far, far more complicated than a conventional set up, it's just about impossible to do it without the correct tools...

Last I heard Johnboy had a set...

You can shock the fan off with a large spanner and a hammer - did it on my 535 which is the same engine basically...

Why are you doing this matt is there a reason? What’s your mileage? Is there a write up? Current stable:

You can do that on the M62 engine as long as you never want to drive it again
I had a used set of locking tools and even with those it was a bit scary as they were a little baggy

I made the fan pulley holding tool from a diagram posted on here. My welding is pretty dodgy but it held up.
