Mine has a very obvious leak from around the valve output, I cant hear any air leak from behind the engine so I'm hoping this is the cure on mine. If its not it'll have to go to a garage but every place I take one of my cars seems to cause another problem on them!

Took 330ci in for a load of work, came back leaking water and lost it all within a mile of the house - simple fix but very annoying!
Took Rangie for a service and gear oil service, no leaks gearbox oil from the sump, original garage have tried twice to sort and now won't return calls so I had it booked in at another place to try and rectify
Took Rangie for an MOT, comes back with management light on and air leaks! (I think it must have been the emissions testing thats caused it go wrong.
Took my pickup truck in for a service, now leaks oil (and that was a main dealer!)

I found an hour today, so managed to get three out standing jobs done on the fleet. 116i Has been giving an intermittent vanos solenoid fault for a while. Fix appears to be remove, clean and refit solenoids with new O rings - managed to get that done. 40 minutes. Including dropping a T20 into the abyss and having to remove some of the undertray to retrieve that little swine. On a roll I jumped under the bonnet of the 330ci and changed a power steering cap seal to stop it weeping on track. (30 seconds)

The new PCV valve had arrived today (thanks Dan), so a quick glance at the time saw I had another 20 minutes before I had another job to do so I quickly whipped it all in bits and changed the PCV valve. Started her up and sadly still got an engine management light on (but I though it would need manually clearing anyway) however the air leak appears to have gone, I certainly couldn't hear it above the engine idle as before and she seems to rev much cleaner and faster. (25 minutes)

Turned her off, will try and get diagnostics on it one evening when I get some time and see if it is actually fixed, or I'm just imagining things. 2005 E60 M5

Did you cure this? Or do you still have error codes

Sorry for late reply, the short answer is yes, shes cured and back to her old self.

The long answer is, I didn't actually manage to get a code reader on it. However I had read that once the fault was fixed that after 25 cycles of the ignition (sometimes mentioned as 10 starts) it would self clear the limp mode.

So after fitting the new valve it did sound better. I did take it for a short drive the following day (15th October) to do some errands and the light remained but the car did feel better than it had previously.

Anyway, another week fly's by with the old girl sat on the drive, started her up yesterday to go to my parents and I was greeted with a surprisingly dark left corner of the dash board - No ethereal glow of "something is wrong". I was most pleased!

I have done about 150 miles in it today as a mixture of country lanes, motorway, A road, stop start traffic, steady cruise and full bore acceleration. Interestingly its back to just how I remembered it being when I bought it back in February, I've enjoyed it hugely this weekend. I do wonder if its had some symptoms for a while now which have steadily worsened in a fashion where I haven't really noticed. Indeed I've been thinking of selling up actually however now all is forgiven and I like it again! 2005 E60 M5

Hi I’ve got 2005 Range Rover sport 4.2v8sc and it’s got hissing sound coming from drivers side and missfireing with reduced proformance and won’t go over 3k revs or if u put your foot down to much it looses power and same on hillclines I’m sure it’s the same car as this happens when it went for mot

Sorry just remembered about this, whilst a sport its the same engine so I'll try and reply to be helpful!

Mine didn't misfire and would rev OK but I feel I caught it quite early. The only symptoms I had were teh EML light and my feeling that it wasn't quite as sharp as it had been previously. It turned out to be the PCV valve as mentioned earlier, it was £37 or so and perhaps an hour of my hamfisted lack of mechanical skill time to fit. A competent ape could probably do it in 30 minutes!

The EML did not return through the rest of my ownership, I sold it back in March I think it was. 2005 E60 M5
