My heated steering wheel isnt working. When the button is pressed, the light blinks red for an instant then goes off.

Is it supposed to stay on red all the time the heat is on? (never used it since ive had the car!)

Is there anything easy to check, like fuse etc ...although im guessing if its lighting up, theres power to it....must be something else, maybe the element has gone

Ive seen a new wheel core, on exchange for £175 , is that my best option ? cheers

Yeah the red light will stay on until you switch it back off , maybe it's the element within the wheel that has given up the ghost ......

ah well ..maybe an excuse for a new wheel then cheers

LOL ...tempting it is...but my 2004 only has 50K miles on it ! ...its like new still

...I dont feel like ive got VFM out of a car if I sell it with less than 100K on the clock  cheers

Surely you tested it when you bought the car?

New wheels can be bought from £150 (exchange) and they come with the new style much softer leather, you can also get them with the burshed aluminium spokes rather than peeling black. However there aren't any on fleabay at the mo. 

nope...never tested it ...didnt even know it was there until I read the manual !

Ill take a look on the bay and see whats out there, TBH the wheel and the drivers door pull are the only bits showing 6 years of wear, so could do with new bits  cheers

now what you mean mine is coming up to 40k miles from new 04.

there is a module under the airbag that controls the heating, i would be inclined to meter out the element to see if its faulty, V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

May be worth checking to see if the relay is "clicking" when you press the button. It is located on the back of the fuseboard in the glove box. When you press the button you should hear it click in.

ta - will give that a check tomorrow ...still havnt ordered a new wheel as I cant find anywhere with just a core in stock, I did find them for £130 ish, on exchange, but no stock

sorry for bringing up an old thread, but my heated wheel doesn't work, the list doesn't come on at all. Looks like it's been a new wheel fitted (2006 model) recently, i've tried the fuse which is ok... any other ideas??

if a new wheel has been fitted, has it got the heated element and connected up?

did the person fitting it even realise or just buy a new wheel without ?

I ended up buying a new wheel, It needed one anyway, so got a new trimmed core on exchange for £120 ...looks and feels like a new car now  cheers

sounds like I need to take the wheel off and check the connections or is there an easy way to remove a cowling or trim to check connections?
