I believe they are for the electro chromatic tinting so they dim when car headlights are bright behind. The mirror glass is about £80 more expensive, so if the glass gets smashed, many owners don’t bother and get the standard glass.

Excelant that's my nosiness cured for that then thanks guys. Yea £13 heated glass off eBay will do me for now never used electro tinting ones before be interesting to see the difference |

I had these on a Jeep GC years ago. They simply deal with over-bright headlights in the same was as the interior mirror |

So that is how the rear view works. I think I would love this on the driver's side mirror. Just another reason to take it apart and fix the wobble. |
