Starting problem

Hi everyone, I'm looking to buy an L322 2007 tdv8 vogue on a 57 plate with 87k on the clock. I'm hoping to look and possibly buy the vehicle next weekend. Upon talking to the owner of the vehicle he said when you put the vehicle in park and turn it off, to start it again sometimes you have to push the gear lever right forward to start it again. My question is could it be the transmission selector unit or is more than that and should I avoid it as it could be costly?? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just from reading on here it seems there is a switch on the gearbox that needs cleaning sometimes and can cure this problem. I'm sure a more informed poster will be along shortly to confirm or deny this. 2015 4.4 AB

Thanks for that it's a clean looking vehicle with a full service history so I'll go and have a look at it
