Updated CD for Sat nav 2002 vehicle?

Hi,

I have started to notice that things have changed a bit since the vehicle was new, I just wondered if anyone else has been able to get hold of an updated copy of the cd ?

thanks for your help.

Have you thought about upgrading your satnav computer to the Mk4 rather than the Mk3. It gives 3d maps and is one of the best upgrades you can do.

Check here for more info, but ignore their pricing:

Don't touch the BMW-Maps one, if you enable the speed camera audio warning it changes the vehicle language to french.
There are othert hings that don't work on it, but cba to find my original post about it.

You can find updated discs on torrent sites.

thanks nbunney,

looks interesting, I was wondering if you had upgraded with these disks, I noticed this comment on one of the sites that kind of put me off

"Range Rovers / Rovers use a similar MKIII Unit but its not a BMW OEM Unit. It may display similar features and SW Versions as well, but they are not upgradeable via this listing O/S Software. Its up to you to check prior to buying this item as a refund will not be given"

my unit is a mk3 (3-1/31) unit

Anyone else had some success with this?, it's a liitle out of date, but I don't want to loose it all together.

Thanks

Try the NAVTEQ site, i have a 2002 L322 and treated myself to a new CD for Christmas, it will cost you just over £100 P+P. Its cheaper that doing any upgrade to a DVD etc.....

That's a third of the cost of the upgrade - which is fine, except when you want to upgrade next year.

Plus you get all the extra features, and frankly a nav you can actually use.

I upgraded mine to a Mk4 for £320 and the cd was a free download off the internet ...very pleased with it

its not quite so slick as the touch screen in >2005 MY cars, but perfectly acceptable, quick enough to be very useable cheers

Seriously, don't bother just buying a new CD - it's still the same old slow sat nav. Take the advice on here and shop around for the MKIV DVD unit - I got mine for 200 - trading in my CD MKIII to the same guy. Then go to myrangerover.co.uk and download the latest firmware with the nice new Range Rover splash screen.

It's a lot quicker to calculate than the MK3 - a lot quicker to connect to the satellites etc etc. It's not as good as a Tomtom, but it's not too bad at all.

Also here for @ £50

deleted

I've never found the MkIII to be too slow or difficult to use and it has always got me close enough even after 10 years. Maybe I am a luddite or I like the retro look. Tempted to update for £50 though. Maybe a birthday present Wink .
