Central diff engages at cold start

L405 SDV8 MY17.

I notice that the central diff engage when steering to left or rigth when temperture is <7°C. And this happens just after starting until oil is warmed up.

Example. RR has been standing 2 days in parking garage at the airport. I switch the engine on and drive slightly to the right to get backwards out of the parking space. At that moment I can see on the 4X4 screen that the central diff locks. I can feel the car scrubbing during the turning.

When the engine heats up and most likely the oil of the diff is warming up it's over.

Is it possible that the oil is too thick in the transferbox when cold?

Anybody else the same experience? At the dealer they didn't had this problem before. 2017 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 silicon silver

The diff being reported as locking indicates that the electronics are instigating the locking, so the cause wont be related to oil viscosity.

Could this be a feature of Terrain response 2, i.e. does it still do that if you select 'normal drive' manually? I recall reading that in colder weather TR2 automatically selects 'grass gravel snow'. Only Range Rovers since 1988

+1 mine is in manual mode permanently - I noticed the lock-up when pulling out of junctions on full lock or with a wet road surface. Manual mode cured it. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

I have the automatical terrain response. I will try to go on manual mode to avoid it.

Central diff is blocking when fresh started during the first kilometers. Every corner the car is grabbing on the axles when I touch the trottle. even gently. This is not normal.

I will contact the dealer. 2017 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 silicon silver

I have exactly the same with my car. It has an extended warranty and they will supposedly be looking at it, but initial response is that it's a known issue, resolved by changing they diff oil twice apparently?!

Range Rover went to dealer for the problem.

Centre diff lock is locking unnecessary at cold start. Recently a software update was released by JLR to avoid the problem.
Car is doing fine now.

Update was done free of charge. 2017 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 silicon silver
