Sandyt - no I'm just on road tyres - Continental Cross Contacts. Was weird to just slide like that. I'd actually tried some intentional hard stops yesterday (with nobody around) just so I could gauge the grip. Totally different today.

The Contis are ok in freshest snow but for stopping you need full winters I started using them years ago you will be amazed at the difference on ice |

Ok, there not a lot of snow on the drive, it’s all in drifts on the roads out of the village. But I think I’ve found the solution....
