Having had fault codes appearing regularly my 2007 SC I decided to look a little further into its operation. A little while ago I fitted 19" RR Vogue genuine alloy wheels with new TPMS sensors and 255 55 R19 Mud Tires as I do spend time off road on muddy farm tracks. Everytime I used the RR after about 30 mins of driving on road the "TPMS fault system inoperative" would flash up. Having a fault diagnostic system I would immediately check the codes and it was always the same fault "sensor/ antennae". But the sensors were all within range and no battery low warnings or aerial issues. So after about 600 miles I removed the wheel/tire combination and fitted back the original 20" fitted with 255 50 R20 Pirelli Scorpion Zeros. All the issues went away. So after digging in the LR workshop manual I found out the following. The TPMS system does not only monitor the Pressure but also the Temperature and Centripetal force. Conclusion; the mud tires on the road were generating extreme heat and tripping the fault codes. I also read that if you change wheel size the CCF for the vehicle needs to be changed. Hope this helps someone as it did me.
