Retrofit Security

What are the best retrofit technology security options to protect your RR from being taken? I’m not interested in a steering wheel lock, it needs to be an easy to use technology solution.

I’ve taken a look at the Autowatch Ghost mentioned in another thread and it appears it may cause system problems.

What other types of tech security are being used successfully on RR’s? MY23 D350 HSE

Mod - unsure why you have moved this thread from the General forum but left the Autowatch Ghost thread in the General forum? They would be best located together in my opinion.

If you are looking for a simple and reliable means of stopping someone driving off in your car I don't reckon you will find anything better than a concealed switch interrupting the electrical supply to the fuel pump relay. Old as the hills but tried and tested. Thumbs Up

A very low tech approach to preventing signal boosters allowing someone else to open the car e.g. outside your house is to put the keys into faraday cages - I tried folded up aluminium (kitchen) foil and that worked.

As the OP says the wheel locks look like they might damage the wheel/paddles and surrounding trim. There are pedal locks available for some cars e.g. Defenders and I wondered whether one of those might work. Some fill the whole footwell, not easy to fit in an enclosed space like a single garage, but maybe OK outside. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Good call - I’m going to take a look and see if there is a suitable fuse I could wire a piggy back switch into Thumbs Up

One of the advantages of living in a flat is that my keys are a long way from the car, but having just bought a house, I’ve started thinking about this problem again.

Cutting the fuel supply on any diesel can lead to problems if it is necessary to prime the system to clear air when the supply is restored. ??

I’m also thinking about the times I leave the RR in public car parks (airport/railway) sometimes for weeks at a time. I’d like to increase the likelihood that it’s still there when I return. Based on what i’m reading I don’t think there is a retrofit tech solution. Might have to consider a physical solution for the times I leave it for a while. MY23 D350 HSE

This might be an option.

The clamp doesn’t seem to grip that tightly to mark the leather (unlike the original model). Probably add some pipe insulation to the wheel before applying.

It has the best security rating on some sites beating the disklock that has been top until now.

Edited to say that on further review the security rating for the above doesn’t stand up.

What we need is a decent vehicle electronics expert who can advise the best way to fit a kill switch to a L405, diesel in my case. MY23 D350 HSE

What we need is that when we spend around 100k for a car that it comes with a security system that works. letters not necessarily in the right order

if you want extra security then nicedayforit's kill switch is the way to go but i wouldnt like to get the info on where and how to fit it here on the forum..
remember potential thieves read these forums ..

i'd take your's to an auto electrician Phil and have it sorted and not mention the switches location here.. ... - .- -.

If your car is still under warranty, have a good look at the warranty terms before proceeding, I have a recollection that making changes not authorised by LR can void the warranty. Q whether the installer of the switch will cover any loss there might be due to not having the LR warranty? My guess is you'd be on your own. Only Range Rovers since 1988
