Crit Aire cert. France

Hi....

I’m bit bothered by this cert and the way it’s applied to the FFRR

I have a late 2016 4L which is a euro 6 engine.

On receipt of the crit aire, I’m a yellow sticker,and that lumps me in with euro5 diesel and euro 4 petrol

Strikes me this is a bit severe and will certainly dent JLR sales... and at some point in the future restrict my access to some cities...although I suspect those type of restrictions will only come in long after the car has fallen apart.

Anyone any views/comments on the crit aire and how it related to FFRR..


Bill Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

I’m afraid I can’t give you anything helpful or positive, Bill, all I can do is confirm you have the correct sticker for your Fatty and confirm your Euro 6 diesel is indeed considered on a par with Euro 5 diesel and Euro 4 petrol. (There’s much diesel-bashing in France …)

Some cities already require them, some will probably soon require them.
There are various Brit sites where you can find info on the current situation. https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/news/motoring-...ch-cities/ is one, for example.

Pay to visit seems a bit harsh - its a one time cost of something like £5 for the sticker.....

The charge is for the moment only small, about 4quid and lasts the lifetime of the car. Unless of course you need a new windscreen and they won’t issue a duplicate!

My question is probably aimed at JLR, I would expect JLR to have an interest in the products JLR sell & pose questions to the French authorities as to why they want to lump euro 6 engines in with others....

I’m not sure if the 3L engine gets the same treatment...

Good point ... it’s a fine, but a warning , just returned from Paris and I have never seen so many tow trucks together with people driving them that look as if they are on a bonus scheme! The cost of a fiver doesn’t matter much. More concern about how a local French council can demonise a Euro6 engine...JLR /motor trade should really take up this issue...
