Here you go, hopefully this will upload.
This is fairly wide angle, drive shaft on the right.
You can see the plug at the bottom, although the wiring goes behind the compressor. I've not found where this goes just yet.

Not sure why but the upload has rotated the picture Rolling Eyes Too many toys, not enough time

I've also got this issue sadly Crying or Very sad

Ironically, I still own my old TD6 L322, which needs to be sold and I recently replaced yet another A/C pipe on that, which had rubbed through (two pipes and a condenser over 2 years) and that's blowing ice cold. The new 4.4TDV8 on the other hand has this frustrating intermittent issue. Just had it regassed today and no improvement. I'm assuming it's this valve and also wondering whether it can be changed in situ or not really.

I've just had my compressor replaced and it's completely fixed the issue, thank goodness.

It was suggested by the Indy that since it was such a big job to remove the compressor in any case, I would be better off paying a bit extra to replace it rather than just the valve as that would give me a 2 years parts and labour warranty. He suggested that just replacing the valve might not be a long lasting solution...

Weirdly, it seems to be running much better since it was replaced too.

But it was much more expensive than I expected.

What did it cost you in the end?

Just over 900...

Bit irritated as I was assured it worked fine when I bought it in Feb when it was hard to test but at least it's properly fixed now. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

To be fair it might have been fine in February, mine’s been great since I got it 2 years ago until about a month ago when it started misbehaving (only weeks after the warranty ended suprIsingly). New one from Dan getting fitted next week.
I try to convince myself that these things are maintenance rather than repairs - the costs seem to hurt less!

M4drx,
I don't think you can get the valve out without having to unbolt the compressor.
Whether you can do that without removing a bunch of other stuff is questionable. It might be possible but be quicker with the pipes out of the way.
The workshop manual design river what to remove, which starts with the radiator, and includes the serpentine belt, the air box and associated pipes, and the pipes connected to the compressor.

If anyone has a compressor and can show me exactly which valve is required, I would give it a go (there are a bunch that fit this compressor).
I don't want to strip mine down to get the valve out and then order it, as that would mean the car off the road too long. If it is my only choice though, I will do it at some point.

Update: I've been out to the car this evening, and there is no way you can get the valve out without unbolting the compressor. There is a lump on the block that would stop it coming out, and it's near on impossible to get a pair of circlip pliers in there, let alone see what your doing. Too many toys, not enough time

I'll gladly send you the valve from mine after it gets changed next week - might be useful for a lot of us if you can source a replacement valve as this seems to be a fairly common problem and Dan did say that the valve isn't listed separately.

The repair kit is available from LR - see the last post on page 1 of this thread.

Thanks cass, that would be great. Just a decent picture of the connector with the valve still in the compressor would help to start with, and maybe of the valve itself.

Graeme, thanks for reminding me. Do you have the 2nd page that gives the part number please, as I can't find it online.
My dealer has not been much help on this, but I will try again.

Most of these valves are used in various other cars, so if I can identify which one it is I will post it up.
I think it is a PXE033, as can be seen here: https://www.polarbearinc.com/rcv_gallery/index.html
but I want to check before ordering one. Too many toys, not enough time

Non-English versions of the TSB can be found on the net which show the repair kit part number for the 4.4 TDV8 in the L322 is LR061463 but getting the correct valve for the particular compressor from elsewhere is likely to cost less.

MT2282 appears to be the PCV part number for the Sanden PXE16 compressor.

True, but I don't think so - you could tell when it was running as you got that 'air con' smell. This hardly ever came through back then and misted windows wouldn't demist etc.

I had it sanitized when I had the compressor replaced and it's all just lovely now. Mine was a LR compressor so had to send the old one back, but at least it meant that I got a decent warranty on it. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

Thanks Graeme, I had not managed to extract that from all the Chinese sheets.

Mt2282 is a PCV, but not the right one for our cars, the connector is different.
Having looked into these, there is so much variance in length and diameter it would be easy to get the wrong one.

I am going to pay the dealer a visit at lunch time, see what they say.

No sure if this is any help but the valve in my new PXE16 compressor has “DM6729” marked on it
