I have the 20” diamond cut tyres on a 2012 supercharge but want to fit winter tyres on them
Currently are 255/50 R20
Running a wanted add but wondering just what if any flexibility I have of what to fit that are safe and correct
Appreciate any help
Normally prefer Michelin or Pirelli if makes any diff

Are Diamond cut tyres a thing in Cheshire as in the rest of the world they are moulded.
I run Pirelis on a set of sepperate rims for the winter but there are pleanty available and your normal tyre suplier will be able to advise. letters not necessarily in the right order

I ran Vredestein’s on my L322 - 255/50/20 - and they were great.

In Cheshire, I’d say proper winter tyres unless you live on a farm.

Anything optimised for mud or snow will be worse on cold wet tarmac or compacted snow / ice

Completely agree

Snowflake - higher silica compound and additional sipes, so better grip in lower temperatures.

I spend 4 months in a ski resort in the winter and haven’t yet needed to fit my chains - I do carry 2 sets just in case

BTW - don’t be fooled by tyres that are ‘only’ mud and snow (M&S marking) - that just means they have a slightly open tread pattern and are self clearing. Also anything that looks very aggressive is likely poor on a cold wet tarmac motorway which is where most of your miles will be spent.

You will probably be fine with regular tyres, but I’ve always run winters and am far happier knowing I’ve done all I can.

Also make sure you use very cold rated screen wash - it’s no fun when the nozzles freeze and you can’t clear the screen on a very dirty road

We run Verds they are superb! We are selling them this year though - as we now mainly use the defender in the bad weather so the dogs and wet muddy gear can just get chucked in.
