Hi Guys
I've just been given a Parrot CK3100 Bluetooth system from my friends 05 X5. Could anyone tell me if the system is comparable or will I need a new harness? If a new harness is req could anyone point me to a part number etc? I have an 04 Vogue with non touthscreen nav. Any help would be great.

Have you thought about going for the OEM Bluetooth install?

Then you get voice recognition, voice dialing etc and the radio will mute, phonebook etc etc.

That would be the ideal solution but the parrot does all the stuff you mentioned BUT it is free compared to the OEM setup.

I looked at the OEM option but with very little knowledge and no specialist in the UK offering this i've just ordered the PK3100 or is it the PK3200 from Orange but it comes with a voucher for free installation. Will let you know how i get on.

Does the parrot integrate with the steering wheel controls and display messages on the main screen?

One feature I've found surprisingly useful (I travel a fair bit) is being able to ring hotels/restaurants directly from the SatNav Directory. 

No don't think it will. Prob have to move my arm to the parrot display. How much would the OEM set me back?

Daveo is the guy to speak to, he's got the Bluetooth ULF module. I'm not sure what else is required for it all to work.

The dash in the RR is renowned as the nicest of any car, ever. I would really try and avoid sticking plastic switches with garish displays onto it... 

Hi I've got a 3100 system in an E39 5 series and basically you wire it into the existing system, was really easy on the 5 and it does the usual stuff (radio mute, voice dialling etc etc), won't integrate with RR controls & displays etc

pretty sure WIGGS does the bluetooth module [£60?] pm him and i'm sure he will help or advise.. ... - .- -.

Hey Dan - Can you advise if that link (ebay item) will work for a 54 plate non touchy screen to give me bluetooth. All I know is there is pre wire (54 pin white plug) and mic wiring in the car.

Wiggs module is for the touchscreen, scarey.

It really is more than just about moving your arm, the phone integration is superb - as Dan has said. Of course it's more expensive and of course the Parrot system works - but aside from being less than perfectly integrated, you also beautify your RR innards:


I'm sure not everyone feels the same way, but for me the extra GBP250 are justified.

Parts needed are:
- a bluetooth module
- a microphone
- a BT antenna
- a pairing button
- for RR's starting sometime in 04 to the beginning of the touchscreen models, a wiring harness.

Parts cost around GBP400. I will be coming to the UK sometime in the next weeks (driving) - I can even load up a boot full of BT parts and bring them over...

Options are also this:


Ipod and charging functionality (with an ipod integration system) for the iPhone.
Cradles for other phones can be had as well

Steve don't suppose you would be willing to install the phone intergation into a MY2002?

That could be a bit of a time squeeze - and I'm a lawyer by trade (I don't come cheap...).

Seriously, I don't know anything of my schedule yet, but we could try to work something out. Repinning takes about 20-30mins and if all wires are easily found, the whole process shouldn't take more than an hour for just the BT.

I'll have to think about this. I'll need beer, too.
