United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Autobiography Black TDV8 Barolo Black

Hmm, not the greatest start to buying a new car Rolling Eyes

As others have said, I would take delivery but on the proviso that a written agreement is provided they will rectify the fault in a reasonable time (say 8 weeks), and if not you will expect a full refund (they won't like this, but make it clear they should consider it a penalty for failure to deliver).

Essentially make it a contractual condition of the sale, not just an obligation.

Copy this to JLR Executive complaints (open copy, so the dealership can see it).

Good luck Thumbs Up Too many toys, not enough time

Thanks for the helpful suggestions.

The reality is, I have committed to three weeks to this deal - I've searched for a car, found it, bought it, and sold and moved on on my previous vehicle.

I could walk away from the deal. Given the dealer is refusing to take the issue seriously, I suspect that is their preferred outcome so that they fix the car and sell it to someone else. However, I will be left without a daily driver and will be shopping around for at least the next two weeks for a replacement from another brand. Also, I suspect that a dealer who is prepared to behave this way is not the kind of dealer who will hand back all of my money in a hurry.

So, I am going to take delivery today, and work with JLR Executive Complaints to have the problem fixed.

Will give the dealer a few hours to reconsider their position, will then name and shame them. Having said that, they have woeful feedback on the internet already, so I doubt my experience will move the dial for them.

JLR Executive Complaints have been fantastic. They hold the view that the dealer has behaved appallingly and should be making compensatory moves. However, they are powerless to sanction the dealerships in any way. For as long as that is the case, I can't see anyone fixing bad behaviour from dealers.

JLR executive office are spineless mouth pieces.

Make noise, agree with you and get brow beaten by the dealership, much like there employers utter rubbish.

Do hope you get it fixed.
