Weight carrying capacity

Hello, I recently purchased a 2019 RR V8 SC. Nice upgrade from my 2012 L322 NA V8.

I am a little confused by the max weight capacity of the new rover.

If I understand correctly from the manual

The curb weight is 5,235 lbs
The gross vehicle weight is 6,967 lbs
Which should mean the combined cargo/people weight capacity should be 1,732 lbs

So why would a sticker on the drivers door frame state max load capacity of 826 lbs?

Anybody have any insight?

Thanks,

That seems very low. 375kg wouldn't even cover four largish passengers, let alone 5 plus cargo. RR History

Exactly, my old RR could carry four grown men, their luggage for several days and tow a trailer full of dirt bikes without breaking a sweat.

If this is correct I really messed up trading in the L322 for a L405. I am going to reach out to Land Rover before I freak out.

Hi

IIRC the curb weight of the vehicle is the car, fluids and 90% tank of fuel. Have you any extras fitted, as anything extra added, such as tow bar, goodies (roof rack, armour plating??) at the factory eats into the payload, (gross minus curb).

So if you have lots of extras you may find the remaining allowance could be less than hoped but it still sounds low. Good luck and let us know the outcome. Cheers

What does your Owners Manual say? Mine has a table which indicates that the Gross Vehicle Weight can be up to 835kg above the Vehicle Weight. ie the passengers and load can be up to 835kg

Agree that a bunch of factory added options would increase curb weight and reduce cargo/payload capacity. I cannot think of anything major added.
The only options that came with the car was tow package and a bunch of electronics. Things like heads up display, adaptive cruise control, etc. nothing that should add up to 906 lbs

Manual lists the curb weight 5235 lbs and gross vehicle weights 6967lbs for the V8. Based on past experience Difference should be payload capacity of 1,732 lbs

in the tire section of the manual it tells you to look at the sticker in the rover for correct pressures and vehicle load.
Sticker show 826lbs or 375 kg max.

For point of reference of how low the sticker capacity my BMW r1200rt motorcycle max payload 510 lbs or 232 kg.

Something has to be off with the sticker. Still waiting on Land Rover North America to respond.

I don’t own a L405, but 4 rugby players and a 6 pack of beer would exceed that 375 kg limit. It must be a mistake.

Adverts for Australian MY19 L405 indicate a 710kg payload for the SC. ______________________________

Exactly, My rugby playing mates will not be satisfied, if my Range Rover can only carry a six pack.

The SVO was only paint. I know they are supposed to do a better job with the paint, however it should not add hundreds of pounds to the curb weight.

Thanks,
