Air suspension inactive-Too much energy for regulation neede

In over two years of L322 ownership I have been plagued with inactive suspension faults. If I lock it out and drive on normal setting it remains fine, but as soon as I unlock it and it tries to adjust it goes inactive.

The fault has always been: "Too much energy for regulation needed" but this has been mixed with either "rear right", "rear left" or "front axle"

Today it's rear left, but last time it was rear right.

So, what does "too much energy for regulation needed" indicate, and why does it swap between rear wheels, and once from back to Front?

Faults read and cleared using Allcomms system.
