Ugly kid glass - arrrgh!

Why is it soooo difficult to find a 405 without privacy glass. They look so much better naked but are like hens teeth!!!

Was privacy glass a standard fitting on all spec levels around MY14? 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

I had to pay for it on my 2017 AB, so it wasn’t standard then.

I prefer the look of them without, but it’s just so darn practical Thumbs Up

I’m the opposite, love them on the 322 & 405. Think it might depend on your age though.

If your L405 isn’t “murdered out”, you’re not doing it properly Smile

I prefer the look of the L405 with tinted glass, I think it looks odd without it. But I don’t like the L322 with it.
Tinted glass is extremely practical - in the shooting season I frequently have between 4 and 6 shotguns in the car together with dogs and other associated paraphernalia which need to be kept out of sight - without tints this would be impossible. I also fit Van Shades behind the glass to make sure nothing can be seen at all from outside. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

quote of the year so far goes to LWR..........belter!!

Its a film you add. they dont get tinted windows as such for privacy, its a film thats put on with solution and can be peeled off.

Get a local fitter to do it. all smug in my new plug!

The flush(er) glazing at the back of the L405 helps here, and with clear glass I assume the large visible “frame” in the rearmost side window is down to the aluminium construction.

Still looks awful when only half the glasshouse can be tinted though, just like an Irish VAT-dodge special.

Well I'm stupid am I not? - I actually thought it was dark tinted glass. Now I learn its a film Shocked Shocked .

I've seen some horror pictures of DIY film removal.

Do specialists actually remove all traces? Any ideas on how much it would cost?

Chalky - thats a perfect example of how beautiful they can look.

I can't get away from the 'van' look of privacy glass. My 322 has it rear of the B post but I don't see the same negative effect. Perhaps its the bigger bulk of the 405 shape that makes a difference. Question 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Factory ghetto windows are definitely glass and not film.

(Film is, however, easy enough to remove with a decent steamer).
