Battery charging (again)

The Westie is all tucked up in our garage at home and I've popped her on the Ctek while i wait for the new starter motor to arrive next week. Don't fancy getting caught out not starting while away from home with work.

I've connected it via the croc clips and assume its ok just to close the bonnet and leave it like that. The battery doesn't need ventilating while on conditioning charge ? Current: FF Westminster money pit

I don't disconnect the FF battery when using the conditioner, like you on the crocodile clips, and so far not had problems. Also others on here use the towing electrics to connect a CTek, so I don't think they disconnect either.

It started when I had to use the conditioner as the last battery was failing, even though it was only 15 months old. Not using the FF so much recently and even with the new battery have kept it topped up to avoid any codes popping up, but that's another story.

An aside, in the olden days of fast chargers and wet acid batteries needing regular topping up, I think the opinion was to take out the battery to avoid the possible build up of the hydrogen being released during charging. Nasty stuff when it goes pop, (think Hindenberg). Cheers
