I am viewing a 2014 Range Rover for my friend and the dealer (Non LR) says LR won't give them the service history for the vehicle because of data protection. It sounds slightly fishy to me but he says it's all on the key now.

Is there any way you could check the service history for me, or even just tell me it's ok if you can't share it?

I can give you the VIN if needed?

LR won't give it over. But check the service book, look at stamps and ring the dealer.
A friendly service manager might give it to you over the phone. They won't give you anything in writing. Better than nothing.

The 405’s don’t have a service book anymore.

Why can’t the vending dealer just go online and obtain the service history - all he needs to do is register. Sounds to me like there is no S/H and it’s an excuse 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

When I bought my first FF about 8 years ago now, I enquired about the service history through an independent. Their reply was that they couldn’t divulge any details due to the data protection act.

I wonder how they’re handling GDPR these days!  Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

Well all I had to do was enter the VIN that the dealer gave me in to this website and it told me the service history. Now I know why the dealer wasn't keen to do it himself...

The dealer say he has one receipt from a random garage in Essex from 2018 for an oil and filter change.

Honestly... who buys a 100k car and then doesn't get it serviced!

Needless to say my friend is not buying it.
